A DeQuincy High School/DeQuincy Railroad Museum Audio Project
The DeQuincy Railroad Museum has a new Attraction for visitors wanting to learn more about the artifacts located at the museum!!
This year the DeQuincy High School sophomore English classes of Miss Tiffany Havard completed a research project that was very different from projects of the past. "We wanted to do something different. We were looking for something the students hadn't experienced in the past, but a project that still allowed them to use the research process to find information about a topic," says Adri LeBlanc, the school's librarian and a huge fan of local history. "What we came up with was a joint project with Mrs. Katy Haley and the DeQuincy Railroad Museum." The students visited the museum and chose several artifacts on display in the museum that they found in some way interesting. After they had narrowed down their topics to only two, the students conducted intensive research on those two artifacts. The final product was an original audio recording which told of each item's history and its importance specifically to the city of DeQuincy.
